Popular Nigerian Comedian and Actor Babatubde Omidina known as Baba suwe has according to reports finally traveled out of the country for medical treatment, after funds were raised for him following report of him being down with chronic diabetes.
Yomi Fabiyi who announced that Baba Suwe traveled abroad for medical treatment on Saturday, April 20, disclosed that he was accompanied by his son, Sola Omidina. He also thanked everyone that came to the aid of the actor when news of his ill health broke.
He wrote;
Happy Easter to you all. Of course, before this season of love, emourmous and rare love is being shown to the veteran actor and comedian Alh. Babatunde Omidina. With your help and love, Baba Suwe travelled out in company of his son Sola Omidina to the United States of America yesternight 20th April, 2019 to complete his medical treatment.
I must add that the Federal Ministry of Health through the Lagos University Teaching Hospital(LUTH) were able to stabilize him in order to make the long haul with little or no acute discomfort.
On behalf of Baba Suwe’s family, his colleagues, friends, TAMPAN movie association worldwide, I humbly register an undiluted appreciation to each and everyone for this wonderful show of love. Thank you once again to our dear mother, Rev. Mrs Esther Abimbola Ajayi for footing the air tickets.
Depending on the treatment and prospective out-patient appointments, Baba Suwe should be return to the screen hale and hearty before the last quarter of the year. He will be treated in a hospital in Rhode Island, USA.

Babatunde Omidina (born August 22, 1958) is a Nigerian actor and comedian popularly known as Baba Suwe.
He was born on August, 1958 in Inabere Street in Lagos Island where he grew up but hails from Ikorodu local government area of Lagos State, southwestern Nigeria. He had his primary education at Jamaitul Islamial Primary School in Lagos and Children Boarding School, Osogbo before he proceeded to Adekanbi Commercial High School in Mile 12, Lagos state but obtained the West African School Certificate from Ifeoluwa Grammar School in Osogbo, the capital of Osun State, southwestern Nigeria.
He began acting in 1972 but came into limelight after he featured in a movie titled, Omolasan, a film produced by Obalende. He became more popular after he featured in Iru Esin, produced by Olaiya Igwe in 1997.
He had featured and produced several Nigerian movies such as Baba Jaiye jaiye, a movie that featured Funke Akindele and Femi Adebayo, the son of the veteran actor Adebayo Salami. In 2011, he was alleged of cocaine trafficking by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, an allegation that was described as false and defamatory by the ruling of the lagos high court of law.
His solicitor was the late Bamidele Aturu, a Nigerian lawyer and human right activist.
