About two months ago, Faruk Adamu, a talent manager in Nigeria, via his Twitter page @BL_Capitol, narrated the case between him on behalf of an upcoming artiste Friday Emeh and Shoprite.
According to him, Friday had recorded a jingle for Shoprite and had gone to pitch a proposal to the market giant. He was however rebuffed by the management only for his jingle to begin being put in circulation by Shoprite.
This led to legal litigation via the Nigerian Copyright Commission under which the said jingle has since inception been registered under. Bureaucratic red-tape and the mere fact that they were going against a big industry player like Shoprite didn't however win them any favours and he has come to social media to request a joint demand for Justice for Friday.
Earlier today, the hashtag #FarukVsShoprite started trending as he sues the company, demands N2m for copyright.
