A 31-year-old man, Olasina Olanrewaju, who allegedly beat two officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps and inflicted injuries on them, was on Friday arraigned before an Ile-Ife magistrates’ court in Osun State.
Olanrewaju was said to have beaten the two officials with a cable.
Addressing the court, police prosecutor, Sunday Osanyintuyi, said the defendant committed the offence on November 22, 2019, at Ajebamidele, Ile-Ife.
He added that the defendant and others yet to be apprehended, threatened the FRSC officials performing their lawful duty.
He said the defendant unlawfully assaulted Taiwo Alonge and Bello Ishola, using a cable.
The prosecutor further explained that the defendant also tore uniforms of the officials.
The offences contravened sections 356(3), 451 and 516 (1) of the Criminal Code, 2002.
The Defence Counsel, Mr Ben Adirieje, applied for bail for his client and assured the court that he would not jump bail.
In her ruIing, Magistrate Bose Idowu, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum N100,000 with two sureties each in like sum and adjourned the case until December 6, for hearing.
