But images soon began circulating on social media of multiple occasions where Mr Trump and Prince Andrew were photographed together over a number of years.
Pictures shared by the Duke of York's official Twitter account on June 4 showed the President and the Prince together during a state visit to the UK.

In one the Prince is pictured with Mr Trump and his future wife Melania at Mr Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort in February 2000.

The President is yet to respond to the pictures.

Epstein died in prison in August this year while facing sex trafficking charges.
One of his alleged victims, Virginia Roberts Giuffre, told the BBC in detail how she was forced to have sex with Andrew in London in 2001 after a night on the town at the Tramp nightclub.

She said she had been recruited into Epstein's sex-trafficking network earlier when she was working as a locker room attendant at Mar-a-Lago.Andrew has denied having sex with Ms Giuffre and says he doesn't remember meeting her — despite a photo that appears to show him with his arm around her waist.
Ms Giuffre's father Sky Roberts has praised his daughter's bravery in coming forward.

"I feel really sorry that all this happened. But it did happen, and Prince Andrew should pay for it," he said.Prince Andrew says he is willing to cooperate with appropriate law enforcement inquiries if required to do so.
He also faces possible subpoenas from women who are suing Epstein's estate who believe he may have valuable testimony about abuse they suffered.

The scandal is one of the worst to grip the Royal family in recent decades and has severely tarnished the reputation of Andrew, one of Queen Elizabeth II's four children.Mr Trump is in England for a NATO summit just days before Britain's general election.
On Tuesday the Queen hosted NATO leaders from around the world, including Mr Trump, at an event at Buckingham Palace.
However, the Prince was not invited.
